Frequently Asked Questions

In India, tipping 5–15% is common. In the US, 15–20% is standard, 20–25% for excellent service. Check if the bill already includes a service charge before adding extra.
Indian restaurants sometimes add a 5–10% service charge to the bill. This is often (but not always) distributed to staff. Technically it is optional — check the CCPA guidelines.
